for those you interested in my former band polarbear, i finally got my shit together and put the 'why something instead of nothing' record up at http://www.myspace.com/polarbearaudio to purchase for download. there are also two songs we did with the super talented producer rich costey called 'satellites' and 'superzero' that only a few inner sanctum peeps had previously heard.

MANY thanks Eric
this is wonderful news!!

I'm really digging the 2 "new" tracks
although I must mention that the title of Superzero reads Superhero in the iTunes display
(I found that somewhat amusing)

Polar Bear was a brilliant band, plain and simple

I can't wait to hear youe new/upcoming solo stuff
you simply never seem to fail to deliver
innovative and inspiring music

again, MANY thanks for all you have done

After wasting far too much time looking around that Myspace page and feeling like pulling my hair out, I figured it couldn't hurt to ask: how do I buy the new tracks? Are they right on that page? What am I missing?

Try it using Firefox (not IE) and see if it works.

I just scrolled down a bit on the Myspace page....
and there's a window inside the page with
SNOCAP offering each song... you need to register with them and you are set to go... oh I was actualy using Safari.. so I am not sure about other browsers' support...

I am actually looking forward to seeing what all SNOWCAP has to offer... I have never hear of them until now...thanks Eric (once again) for turning me on to something new... it seems like a very cool venture for independent music/artisits... though I have nothing aginast Apple/iTunes... it's really nice to see some homegrown stuff ...nd it actually be utilized...KUDOS!!!

This is amazing, best 12 dollars ive ever spent, and im only just finishing lick!

This is realy msuci right here, and this distributing is the future of music, musicians will distribute there music threw this, and use major labels for touring support, this is it.

Much Respect!

As far as I can tell, Snocap doensn't work for me because I'm in Canada or something. It just doesn't show up on the Myspace sites when I view them. I've tried in different browsers and nothing works. I tried searching Snocap's website for Polarbear, but the artist search came up with nothing. Any ideas? Can anyone get me a URL that links directly to the download site? I set up an account with Snocap so I'll have no problems once I find a page with the right links.

Also, I've now wasted at least a couple hours over the last few days trying to get a hold of the two new(ish) tracks. I swear I'm not blind, I just can't get the store to work, or appear on the page.

michael, maybe you need the latest version of Flash? Try this link for the polarbear snocap: http://void.snocap.com/s/T3-31324-7ZPSN32QNV-W/

Thanks for the link! At least that's working now, though I apparently can't use a Canadian billing address for the credit card information. When I try to link my Paypal account to my Snocap account, it's been telling me there are errors and to try back later. Fun stuff. Hopefully I can get this sorted out, or maybe I'll try firing off an e-mail to Paypal, since the error is occurring on their website.

Ah, Polar Bear.

The song Lick inspired me during the days of courting my future wife.

Excited about the 2 tracks . . .

And, EA, going back several posts re: your music recommendations . . . I purchased Arcade Fire's Neon Bible. Best buy in a long time.

With my iTunes gift card for my recent b-day, it will be Blonde Redhead and TV on the Radio.

Thanks!

EA, you are an true musician, and musical inspiration. My only regret was not getting to see polar bear live (i never lived in LA only SF)

Also, I was glad to see you did the music for the '11th Hour' docu. Keep it coming bro!!!

Eric...
In the category of "when it rains it pours", I spent a long long time throughout the mid to late nineties and early 00's trying to find Polar Bear. I grew up in NE Ohio, playing bass along with Jane's records and geeking out over Deconstruction (I think at the end of the day I'm more of an EA fan than a Jane's fan, but I digress...) Time went by, I moved to NYC, but continued with sporadic internet hunts for a website, something on eBay, anything. Nothing (save for news, too late in the coming, of a show where you played with Peter Murphy... that had to be insanely gratifying for you.) Eventually I calmed down and carried on, until last week a friend gives me a CD and asks if I like Deconstruction, and that I should listen to the Polar Bear tracks on the CD he's giving me. I nearly cried. That night, after listening to Hula and Sharkeys repeatedly, I decided to give it one last go on the internets, only to discover a Polar Bear MySpace, an Eric Avery MySpace (with the promise of a new record??) and this fabulous blog. So, uh, hey! Good to see ya. Worth the wait.
