i always check this blog every cople of days, just cause im interested in it. But also because i have alot of questions, and one of them is, I want Deconstruction and Polar Bear cd's So Badly, its kinda ridiculous. I can get them off of amazon or ebay but paying a fortune to some dude. But before i go to such desperate measures i must ask the man who actually created them. Could you send me those cd's if you do that kinda thing?

I need to hear those songs

thanks :)

eric, your vocals remind me of joy division very much so. do you often find yourself seeking spiritual guidance from the ghost of Ian Curtis?

Eric,

That's great words about Flea (in your previous post). I can certainly add to everyone's comments about you playing some live dates in support of Help Wanted---it'd be awesome to have you come to NYC/NJ area if your schedule allows. On another note, I thought I'd wish you and your wife and everyone here a Happy Holiday (may that be Easter, Passover , etc.) Lastly, I made a very short video of my son Avery playing bass. He's 10 months old tomorrow and he's starting young- hee hee! I thought you'd appreciate it if you have the time to check it out. It's about 40 seconds. Enjoy. It's at:

All the best EA and talk soon, Matt

EA,

Here's the complete link to the video in case it didn't work in the first post I just put up. It's a long link, so I split it into 2 lines. You can simply copy the whole thing into a brouser and it should work:

I just learned of the signing with Dangerbird & the upcoming solo Help Wanted & wanted to wish you the best with both! I cannot wait to hear the solo material! I've been a long time fan of yours for many years now & I've been nothing but inspired by all you've done throughout the years past! Thank you so much for everything!

Hey E-
Like Georgen d, Matt V, and Dani, I check back every couple of days and 9 out of 10 times it gets me charged to hit the studio (paint brushes).
Thanks, and like everyone else I'm looking forward to Help Wanted and Belle post.

Hey E.
I made you a simple visual aid.

I too made a "visual aid"!

*I'm really sorry about the way it turned out! I started running with the joke idea of text covering your face with "wanted" on your t-shirt... then the "wanted" turned to hot pink a la today's 13 year old girl populace, and well:

Even though it looks like a mockery, I can't wait to hear your new stuff!

great news on the record and signing eric, eye of the tiger baby!

Hey Eric, great news on signing with Dangerbird..very cool, can't wait to hear it!! Your work in Jane's, Deconstruction and Polarbear are a huge inspiration.

will Belle and yourself be handling the Art work this time around?

also....being a primarily a bass player myself and writing material using the bass as a solid foundation or "starting point" do/did you ever get stuck finding that magic part? or find it hard to convey a certain emotion?.....in others words...I'm working a track that needs a chorus & I just can't seem to find it.....any tips? ha!

Thanx

Richard (from Blitey)

Forgive me if this question has already been asked, but how close were you to landing the Metallica gig and was the audition enlightening at all? (Don't know if you consider them an early influence..)

I noticed last night that 'Classic Girl' sounds alot like 'Hope' by Bauhaus off Burning from the Inside. Ever noticed or was it a concious move?
Either way, both great songs

n.m. - thank you back at you.

george d- i dont do that sort of thing from home here. i only have one decon cd and i have been asking andy troy for pbr cds for a year now with nothing coming. so dont pay a fortune. if you cant afford them, find them on the net and just download.

om- ian curtis and joy division were a huge influence. one of the best shows in recent memory was seeing flea, frusciante and josh klinghofer do an entire set of joy division covers at spaceland. amazing.

i generally like my male singers like lou reed, nick cave and that ilk. not into the those that sound like a shrieking cat.

matt volpe- charming footage. he obviously has the genetic predisposition for the rhythm section.

im also envious of averys pants. very cool.

jerry- thanks back.

ryan p and human canonball- whats up with the visual aids? is it some kind of net culture thing that i dont know about? i dont get it.

-ea. said...

rob and tito- thanks gents.

richard- belle and i are definitely involved in the artwork. we already did a mock up. but we are also getting help this time from the good folks at dangerbird.

about tips with choruses. you are talking to a man who seems incapable of writing a catchy chorus. not thing. but i will say that i try to get off instruments that i play well and write on those i dont play well. keeps me from getting muso. i also do lots of little tricks to stretch myself. like i rarely stop with a prgression i like. i usually try to put something in it that is awkward to me. trying to make the awkward part work is often where the best part comes from. but not unlike life, youve got to find these sorts of things that work for you personally.

robert- i was never close to the metallica gig. i didnt even consider it an audition. it was just a chance to fly up north for the day and play with metallica. who wouldnt want to do that?

playmelikeabird- interesting observation. the connection was not a conscious one but idefinitely see the relationship there. i love both songs too.
