Eric Avery:

Dislikes parties - Loves hockey
Enjoys pizza - Eats it in California

Truly a man of perplexing contradictions.

Jane's needs to just OD and die. Everything I've seen from the latest, not-greatest revival is just embarrassing.

evidence to back up your statement?

JA 2009 is hot, they need to get out there on there own so I can afford a ticket. You can see the motivation in navarro. He hasn't been this good since 1997 relapse. Something woke the sleepy head up :)

fradulent 2 party system said...

lhr,
since you seemed steeped in the workings of american politics, perhaps you can add something here.

Let’s discuss the fraudulent left-right 2-party paradigm that we are all locked into. This paradigm provides a strong stable platform upon which they(the elite power brokers) can build their hierarchical world order system. The current two party system has been bought up and controlled by the elite that sit atop it. It is very important for us all to realize that we are living under a simple but clever system that has been designed to contain revolution whilst projecting the illusion of being a free, fair and open democracy. The 2-party system provides firm support for the elite to implement their agenda from the top down, whilst the ordinary people at the grassroots level squabble between themselves over which political party is the best. In reality, it doesn't matter which of the two parties you vote for because the same agenda will unfold regardless. Hence, both parties are controlled at the very top by the same force.
We are locked in the left-right paradigm and it becomes this huge pageant, this huge distraction where we analyze every facet of the two political parties, never realizing they themselves are simply a front or puppets for a larger power structure. The two parties can then limit the issues that are debated to this controlled paradigm. They can limit the scope of differences which if you look at it there is almost no difference between the two.

Fraudulent 2 party system-

Sure...
It's safe to say.. ((without having to get into deep & paranoid conspiracies ))
..that we effectively have a one party corporate driven system.

-In over 95% of the races run today..the candidate with the most money will win.

The republican front likes to portray one ideology to the voters...which it believes will appeal to what they wish the majority to be...

And the democratic front likes to portray a slightly softer ideology which it believes will appeal to what they wish the majority will be...

On paper it always looks good...as if the people had a choice..

But in reality;
the two supposed "agendas" are nearly identical...

They are basically two competing advertising firms under the employ of the same corporate interests..

Neither acctually produces the complete "change" they advertise or..,I should correct myself; that they imply...

They each just briefly satisfy the beliefs of the voters...in that they have an effective tool to control their own destiny.

Of course let me say that I do believe that they are still two different firms..

(two firms working within a one party system=that one system being the most powerful corporate interests of the day...)

What is often missed...is that they are not running for the peoples approval...
...they are competing for the corporations approval.
And of course they are judged by the moneyed interests...on how well they can sell it to the people.
Who can sell this shit better?

While the excitement that Obamas team could be seen as inspirational to some...
To myself and many others...it was always seen as a obvious attempt at mere image change. While in the fine print; the core product still remains destine for failure.

My most useful observation against Bush during his time...while debating with conservatives...was not that he was evil...or part of a NWO or whatever...
..it was that he was just BAD FOR their precious BUSINESS! So then why wasn't he conflicting with what they believe to be their most holy conservative ideals?!
And he was bad for business...
No one could argue that!
I found that this was the most effective argument against Bush with his base.

Now you can see...that most all of what Obama team has done...
Has been to rebuild the surface image...
with hopes of selling the same old product. The goal is to improve business. Business comes first. And this often does not run parallel to your own personal secure future...

And for right now...the people are still enjoying the band-aid...So should we really be trying to pull it off?! I don't know..
..In many ways...I'm starting to think that the more you try to educate people...the more they seek denial so....
That's why I haven't been slamming policies lately.

I think the most ridiculous thing about our current system...
is how the people can feel that when one party takes three steps back...and the next takes one step forward again...
that this is evidence enough of progress.

As I like to remind people with Obama;

We still we have an immoral profit based health care system...

Still no charges or investigations into illegal actions which led us into a costly and illegal war...well..remember..Obama was always against impeachment?..so..I'm not surprised. Is anyone I wonder?

Still no end to the failed war on drugs...

Still we have the Patriot Acts...& immunity for telecommunication giants...

Still we have the war(s) along with prospects of future conflicts...

etc..etc..

oh...but soon we might...(just might)...reopen trade with Cuba again!!
time to celebrate!! (As if this is a huge victory?!) Again; three steps back..one step forward. 50 something years...ha..

-----

Now all of these things were evident prior to the election..

the people of the US obviously support these things...
They have proven it time and time again...

The "bailouts/economy" will work as an excuse for how long people?

And sure...I think most of the conspiracies out there are counterproductive but really...could the "bailouts/economic collapse" not have been manufactured!? For a system which had been failing for years...the timing sure was perfect.

Ultimately; the largest challenge we the people face...
..is that we refuse to go without our "happy" medication...

we are surrounded by "believers".

people want to "believe" in fairy tails...they want to believe...

It's not Obama or the Bush's that are our greatest threat;

It's the people who prefer "faith" over knowledge.

Obama never lied to me...If you read the small print with him...you would know...that he's doing exactly what he & his administration intended.

-Image building-

Which would be fine to me if what lied underneath was in fact the best product we could offer.

Yet; I can't enjoy selling shit...even when selling it really good.

The most disappointing thing for me...regarding the majorities embrace of Obama was;
That while always finding pride in how advanced their decision making was...
truly; they were voting for stereotypes....just not the old ones...but the new ones.

-While I would argue friends on policies...
..they would usually find a way during their argument to remind me of how great it would be if America would be if they could elect a "black" man. What that would "show" the world.

OK..well...sure..who's going to argue that point?!...only a racist.
(So Similar to how once upon a time arguing against the war "on" Iraq..would have made you a terrorist sympathizer.)

I would ask about the war on drugs..or impeachment..or profit based health care...or the Patriot Acts..further investigation into 9/11..

and even though Obama had outlined his plans which I was attacking...
..many of his supporters would often promise me that he was just saying those things because he had to get elected.

Unfortunately; It will be recorded in history that they "believed" that a "black" man would never really support those things..and we just had to trust him.
Or...I suppose...trust the modern stereotypes..over the obvious fine print. All while referencing the obvious evils of the old stereotypes.

It's just too bad.

It was as if..people were saying to me...that they could support almost identical policies to John McCain...if he was younger..spoke more professionally,...preferred the Democrat title...and was not -so- white.

So in closing; yes I agree..our system is manipulated by one party:

-one party which refused to allow equal airtime for third parties..
-one party which knows how to easily influence the people through fear...fear of "another 4 years" or fear of "racism"...or fear of "depression"..or "100" years of war...

-one party which unfortunately...the medicated & fearful populace...continue to support.

peace

things wouldn't be right if you weren't still super molester gay..

Anonymous said...

lhr you make some good points.

"In many ways...I'm starting to think that the more you try to educate people...the more they seek denial"

the problem is people are locked into left or right or whatever they see their own parties stance on a particular issue. as more people become disenfranchised by broken promises they will be more open to different solutions. now is the best time to try to awaken others to the "one party system" so they can see beyond the smoke and mirrors to the real agenda.

Eric,

Are you excited about the new janes addiction songs? I heard one of them is called "embrace the darkness". Will it sound as cynical, gloomy and apocalyptic as Help wanted? Trenchcoat music is cool.

IF that is really the title of the song, which I doubt, then I am bracing myself for pure cheese lyrics to go along with it. Sounds like the title of some cheap b-movie vampire horror flick or worse yet some stupid Yngwie Malmsteen song, or Insanity rains by Satellite Party
**cringes**

Jane's are catering to nin's fans. You WILL NOT hear any cool surf punk alternative music.

The more Avery and Navarro have their say, the more dark, nihilistic, misanthropic, pessimistic and self loathing it will become. They have sold their souls to a very dark spirit. Trust me.

'Embrace the Darkess' is a King Diamond/Mercyful Fate song I think. Common guys you can get more creative than that! Lay off King Diamond for a while ok? hehe

Did you all overdub some xtra acoustic guitar because everything sounds very clean and eloquent.

Be careful what you ask of him, and don't turn your back because he might just "add something" of his to where the sun don't shine.

Farrell said Jane's would give out singles for free on its Web site as soon as they were ready. The first one will be called "Embrace the Darkness."

First is was called Laughing Beats and now this. Farrell is a disimformation specialist if I ever heard one. Cut the drama and release the damn thing boys

Anonymous said...

They could make some dough by doing a vinyl single release for each new song they make. Sell it thru janesaddiction.com exclusively. It could become a collectors item.

Giving shit away for free cheapens the music which I fully expect to be golden.

At the end of that song Dave strums a different riff. Was that riff part of the orginal song that was left off the album version or was it just improv?? Sounds phat. I wish Dave could still play like that.

Purchased Cabinet of Curiosities, Jane's box set, @ Best Buy on lunch break today. Unlike a lot of others, I don't have a lot of JA bootlegs. The demos and many of the live tracks were fresh for me. The basswork of EA really stands out as the spinal c(h)ord . . . especially on "Standing in the Shower Thinking" on the bonus disc.

Jane's Addiction, the gameplan and the future.

SCENARIO #1:
the ninja tour will be successful and the band will write and record 8-10 new songs that sound like a cross between their first three albums with a twist. they win over new fans with great diversity in taste of music. they regain the appeal they had in the late 80's, early 90's with over the top stage performance.

SCENARIO #2:
the tour will be a total flop with nine inch nails losing millions due to their lack of foresight booking large expensive venues during a bad recession. Janes will get hurt too but not as bad as Trent Reznor. Tension within the band will build. The band's new songs will be too heavily tailored to euro listeners and the european/brit market. Radio in the USA will not put them on heavy rotation. They find themselves forced to play mid sized clubs rather than theaters here in the USA. The recession deepens. The market in european countries may expand slightly enabling them to play larger venues there. They realize they are in the same boat as other 80's has beens.

They'll do fine once Perry Farrell ditches the geeky Elvis hairdo!!!

If Perry's hairdo was anything remotely like Elvis' pompadour, things would be just groovy. Sadly, it's more like some kind of feathered jew fro. Worst Perry haircut EVER. LOL.

Haircuts schmaircuts - Jane's is beautiful.

Now for something different. Jane's at her finest, an acoustic campfire tune in the tradition of "My Time". This is the smartest thing they've done since 1991.

^ That song was reported to be on the friggin Box set and its not there. Oh well.

They were wearing cooler outfits in that vid compared to 2009(so far). Perry and Dave's hair styles were A LOT better then as well. Dave's current doo makes his face look long and drawn out. Perry's doo makes him look like a total nerd. Time to fire their stylists and rehire the ones they had in '03.

Fashion smashion the band used to bee sexee. Eric & Perry used to go topless. Eric did in Polar Bear and Peter Murphy. Guess they r growing spare tires around the waist now. The band used to be sexee, the strippers r gone and Perry's not wearing makeup to disquise his age. Having good sonics and playin' every note perfect and 'on time' is only 1/2 of the equation.

If I were Trent Reznor or was offered to opportunity to help produce some songs for JA, first I would do this.
Rent a studio on the beach in Hawaii and kick out all the other loiters. I would play them "3 days" and "of course" and encourage them to pick up where these songs left off. Two songs would be finished.

Then I would bring in Flea and ask him to start slapping his bass funky till his fingers were raw. I would say listen to Flea closely; this should be the mood for the next 2 songs, funky and wild.

Then for the next two songs I would play them tambournine man by Bob Dylan and Down by the Seaside by Led Zepelin and say play something in this mold.

When Perry decided to pull out his sampler and beat box toys I would have them destroyed.
