cool Eric. That sounds like a good warm up show for the upcoming tour.
Had band rehearsal with my guys last night for first time in a month. It was real good. We wrote a new song, "Eat your peas, won't you please". A good James brown sounding jam. Song came from me trying get lil Avery to eat his veggies. Been listening to a lot of the JB's as of late. I believe bootsy and fred Wesley are the bassists from those sessions. Astounding stuff.
Have a good weekend!
Matt

Austin is a mecca of music. Look forward to some footage surfacing on YouTube . . . or newly revamped JA.com.

"If I have to paint houses, I’ll do that before being a 50-year-old version of me trying to recapture something from my youth. I just didn’t want to do a worse job of being my 20-year-old self. There was no way we could make a great record. So, what are we doing it for? A paycheck? Glory? Those aren’t great reasons. I have other jobs that I do for a paycheck."

PELLO- are you in the same place you were in 2005? If so, that is sad. You need to allow people to grow and change (and yes, change their minds).
Who the F cares what somebody said when they were in a different place emotionally/musically?
make peace with your own issues and respect other people's processes. peace.

Anyone who has listened to Help Wanted knows that Eric A. is doing exactly what he wants to do, on his terms, without compromise. Anyone who has listened to Deconstruction or Polar Bear knows that Eric doesn't need Jane's to make great music. So folks should probably reserve their opinion as to what this NIN/JA tour means until they can see the whole picture. The way that he and Jane's left things, there was alot of unfinished business.

Hey Eric,
As a Middle-Eastern (wannabe) filmmaker, I was just pleasantly surprised to hear you here:

If you tire of the the industry nonsense that is wee bit prevalent at SXSW I suggest checking out Barton Springs at Zilker park (every city should have something like this) as well as the Town Lake trail. Both are right downtown and are part of makes Austin so amazing for those of us that call it home.

Cheers, and enjoy your time in the city.

vegan cowboy- i appreciate the direction. one of my hopes from blogging was that i might receive valuable info like this. for me a blog is easily as much about listening as it is about broadcasting. as i travel on tour i hope this kind of direction from you all continues. its not lost on me. i always try to research the places im going so this kind of input is really valuable to me.

Eric-
then she did teaser sounds great on janesaddiction.com video...can't wait..

I was wondering if janes was considering bringing in a violin player to join you guys for any of your shows...

I thought @ Lollapallooza it was excellent when you guys had the lovely "Morgan" join for a few tunes..might something like that happen again? Just curious.

peace

No problem at all. I also forgot the bats. We have a lot of damn bats. The largest urban bat colony in the U.S. lives in the Congress St. bridge downtown. It is a bit touristy to do, but seeing a million bats fly out of a bridge at once is pretty damn impressive. And lastly I have a four year old if babysitting is your cup of tea. Though a couple of SXSWs ago the kiddo and I ran into Billy Bragg so he has all kinds of irrational expectation of musicians. So if you wanted to go down the baby sitting route you would need to brush up on your anti-capitalist lullabies.

Not a bad idea lhr, i think it'd be cool if JA brought in a Sarangi player if "Moran" wasn't available

samadhi-
..hell yeah...that sounds sweet

samadhi, that was really beautiful. I hope Jane's will be open to more experimental, non-rock stuff (along with the rock) again, and really become purveyors of eclectic art music.

I think it is the true calling of a group of people such as Jane's to emotionally and intellectually explore this brief flicker of existence, and to create a beautiful noise which both reflects and elevates our experience.
